![]() ![]() ![]() Banking/Financial/Retail Data Processing Services.(assuming you named the front image plane "frontPlane" of course). ![]() You can create a locator in Maya, then use a connectAttr command to enable you to move the image plane around like an object - i.e.,ĬonnectAttr locator1.tx frontPlane.centerX ĬonnectAttr locator1.ty frontPlane.centerY ĬonnectAttr locator1.tz frontPlane.centerZ You'll have to do some aligning in Maya as well - but doing all this setup in photoshop makes that very easy. My goal is to "ghost" the image so it doesn't get in my way - I usually do it in such a way that the white background matches the gray color of the grid. Once in Maya, I darken the entire image using the Color Gain attribute - I bring that down to a 0.3 or 0.4 then compensate by increasing the Color Offset. I usually de-saturate my image and output each layer as a JPG (don't use any progressive scan or other compression options - just use the basic one - Maya has a hard time with the others) with a white background. Digital photos are usually four times that - and will bring Maya to its knees unless you have a really powerful graphics card - even so, you don't need to waste those resources on image planes. Make sure that the pixel dimensions of your image planes are relatively small - your longest edge certainly should not exceed 1000 pixels. Use guidelines to make sure that "landing zones" on front and side images line up - eyes, nose, mouth, shoulders, navel, knees, etc. Paint out hair and other stuff that makes it hard to see shapes. Place the front and side images side by side on separate layers in the same image, and using guide lines, make sure that your front view is set so that the centerline goes right down the middle, etc. If you are taking the pictures yourself, use a long lens and zoom in to the subjects short lenses - especially wide-angle lenses, distort perspective and will be difficult to model against especially faces.īring the photos into Photoshop, crop them as much as you can, get rid of all background stuff you don't need, and fill the background with white. ![]()
